Contemporary Nursing Practice
The nursing practice has changed over time with the nursing models changing in their development to become relevant to the current healthcare needs and policies which are meant to improve the process of patient care (Creasia, 2015). These changes are also meant to prepare nurses in the nursing field for future expectations. This includes the changing healthcare needs, the integration of technology into healthcare, as well as the increase in demand for healthcare services (Creasia, 2015). Due to the benefits and roles of nursing in the healthcare setting, it is important that the current nursing models and practices change to adapt to the latest models as this is meant to improve the efficiency of the nursing models (Creasia, 2015).
How Nursing Practice Has Changed Over Time and How This Evolution Has Changed the Scope of Practice and the Approach to Treating the Individual
The nursing practice has drastically changed from the earlier times with transformations in different healthcare fields. Some of the areas, which have experienced changes, include the roles of nurses, the education system, and the integration of technology into the healthcare system (Creasia, 2015). This has improved the process of treating a patient due to the integration of more effective healthcare processes. The current healthcare system requires nurses to be highly skilled to address the changing healthcare needs and make critical decisions in different scenarios, which were the responsibilities of the doctors in the earlier times (Creasia, 2015).
Technology has provided new opportunities for nurses in their provision of patient care, which is used to improve the communication between nurses and patients in helping them to manage chronic conditions (Creasia, 2015). Nurses were not allowed to practice to their full extent of their education and training in the early times which affected their practice. However, in the current times, there are measures, which have been implemented to enable nurses to practice to their full extent which has improved the treatment process (Creasia, 2015).
Compare And Contrast The Differentiated Practice Competencies Between An Associate And Baccalaureate Education In Nursing. Explain How Scope of Practice Changes between an Associate and Baccalaureate Nurse
A bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) and an Associate degree in nursing (AND) are requirements for an individual to be a registered nurse and be allowed to practice in a healthcare facility (Blegen et al., 2013). These programs are important in preparing nurses before they give their services to patients, as education is necessary in providing knowledge to nurses to provide healthcare services in different fields of specialization (Blegen et al., 2013). An associate and baccalaureate education in nursing improves the competence of nurses, which is important in making vital decisions concerning patient care. However, there are differences between the associate and the baccalaureate education in nursing in terms of the education level and skills, which are, attributed to the different education levels (Blegen et al., 2013).
The baccalaureate level has an advantage over an associate education level as this provides more competence for nurses, which has a relation to their performance and how they address certain issues in their provision of healthcare to patients (Blegen et al., 2013). The baccalaureate education level provides more quality training for nurses, which also involves a longer training period (Blegen et al., 2013). This effectively prepares the nurse in his/her performance in a healthcare setting. The associate education level provides nurses with the basic nursing skills, which are used generally to administer healthcare services to patients (Blegen et al., 2013). This may pose a challenge for nurses in difficult situations, which require critical thinking. A baccalaureate nurse has more responsibilities and can be able to handle more complex healthcare needs compared to an associate nurse who is trained with the basic healthcare knowledge, which might limit the responsibilities administered to him/her (Blegen et al., 2013).

Identify a Patient Care Situation and Describe How Nursing Care, Or Approaches to Decision-Making, Differs Between the BSN-Prepared Nurse and the ADN Nurse
The approach to care may differ between a BSN prepared nurse and an ADN nurse due to their difference in competencies and skills which may be seen in addressing a similar case. This affects the decision-making process between the two nurses (Robichaux, 2017). An example of a patient care situation where this may be applied may include addressing a complication affecting an admitted patient. In this case, an ADN-prepared nurse may apply the general life saving skills and wait for the doctor to implement more interventions to save the patient (Robichaux, 2017). However, a baccalaureate prepared nurse may apply more skills acquired during training to assist the patient as these nurses are trained to address issues that are more complex and apply alternative interventions to save the patient, which is critical at that moment (Robichaux, 2017).

Discuss the Significance of Applying Evidence-Based Practice to Nursing Care and Explain How the Academic Preparation of the RN-BSN Nurse Supports Its Application
It is important to apply evidence-based practice in nursing care due to the benefits associated with evidence-based care. Evidence-based care is based on research, clinical expertise, and consideration of patient values, which is important in determining the best practices to be applied to enable effective provision of care (Robichaux, 2017). The application of evidence-based care has been indicated to improve patient outcomes. Evidence-based practice is important in a healthcare setting as it seeks to provide the best and effective care, which will help the healthcare sector to achieve its objectives of improved healthcare services (Robichaux, 2017). The academic preparation of the RN-BSN nurse supports the application of evidence-based practice by helping nurses in understanding what it entails and how to apply this practice in their responsibilities (Robichaux, 2017). This is achieved by providing the nursing students with the opportunities to apply their knowledge on evidence-based practice in different scenarios. This is important in increasing the nurses’ experiences during their training process (Robichaux, 2017).
Discuss How Nurses Today Communicate and Collaborate With Interdisciplinary Teams and How This Supports Safer and More Effective Patient Outcomes
It is important for nurses to communicate and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams as this leads to improved outcomes. Due to the importance of every nursing field in addressing a patient’s healthcare needs, it is necessary that there is effective communication in this process to ensure that nurses make informed decisions (Bickley, Szilagyi, & Hoffman, 2017). Important information collected from different healthcare process should be accurately communicated to avoid any medical errors from happening, which may compromise the achievement of healthcare goals. Nurses today communicate and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams using effective communication channels (Bickley, Szilagyi, & Hoffman, 2017).

These include handwritten notes, phone calls, and emails, which should be carefully used to avoid any misinterpretation of critical information. This communication channels enable nurse to transmit accurate information, which is important in providing safer and more effective patient outcomes (Bickley, Szilagyi, & Hoffman, 2017). Communication and collaboration enables nurses to work together by sharing certain responsibilities and solving healthcare problems, which is important in improving the healthcare process. This is beneficial in providing safer and more effective patient outcomes (Bickley, Szilagyi, & Hoffman, 2017).

Conclusion
Both the associate and baccalaureate education in nursing is important in preparing nurses for their responsibilities in a healthcare setting (Creasia, 2015). However, it is necessary that nurses always aim for the highest education level, as this is important in enabling the nurses to provide effective healthcare. This will also enable healthcare facilities to improve their provision of healthcare services through improved patient outcomes (Creasia, 2015). Nurses in a healthcare setting should also take advantage of interdisciplinary teams, which are important in providing coordinated care, which helps the nurses make accurate decisions. This will help the nurses in providing effective care to patients (Creasia, 2015).
