Elaboration Theory can be applied when organizing the subjects that will be taught in a class. This facilitates a students’ ability to prepare for the course, get an overview of what the course is on and be accountable for the material that will be taught. The main objective of this theory is to help analyze the structures of knowledge and the processes of cognitive learning. Charles Reigeluth based these values on a design to encourage the creation of meaning and motivation of the student, permitting teachers to make decisions to their capacity, and an approach that facilitates the process of educational expansion. The first principle mentioned in his theory is sequence. Sequence embarks the concepts that will be learned throughout the course which can be created using a syllabus.
