Gender identity roles have been causing major disputes over the years. William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” challenges the stereotypical idea of gender identity. The characters in the play often represent reversed traits of the genders. Yet in Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” it demonstrates women carrying dominance and remaining strong while the males become emotional and powerless, this is shown several times throughout the play. The roles in “Macbeth” demonstrates how the traditional gender identities are challenged throughout the play.
