The prevalence of RA is believed to range from 0

The prevalence of RA is believed to range from 0.4% to 1.3% (Sacks et al., 2001; Dieppe., 2002). 41 per 100,000 people were diagnosed with RA annually between 1995 and 2007 according to the data from the Rochester Epidemiology Project (Myasoedova et al., 2010). The annual incidence of RA has been reported to be around 40/100,000 worldwide, being women 2:1 to 3:1 more likely to be affected than men (Ospelt and Gay, 2012; Viatte et al., 2013). Although RA can occur in patients at any age, incidence was found to rise with age; among those aged 18 to 34, 8.7 per 100,000 people were affected; in those aged 65 to 74 years, 89 per 100,000 were affected; and in those 85 years or older, 54 per 100,000 were affected (Littlejohn and Monrad , 2018).
