There are different factors that can contribute on the abuse of certain people

There are different factors that can contribute on the abuse of certain people. If an individual has a mental disability such as dementia, lacking capacity, maybe secluded or isolated or vulnerable, they would be vulnerable to abuse.
There could be factors were the abuser lacks training and also the abuser may be abusing their power.
Other factors may be that the carer or person looking after someone may be feeling stressed or having a history of abuse and continuing the cycle.
Some people are more susceptible of abuse. Factors could be low self-esteem, low self-worth, they may be been abused in the past, they don’t have anybody to protect them from abuse or they are mentally ill.
People prone to abuse would be: the elderly, young adults and children, in children/adults care homes, people with disabilities. Etc…
